Tabata workouts   11/4/2014

Is anyone familiar with Tabata workouts?

I do a 20 sec on/ 20 second off x 8, set during my bike workouts. Can anyone recommend a different ratio or a different mode of doing them. I have tried them on a rowing ergometer but not running as of yet.

Is there any rules for doing them that would be useful to know?

The biggest tip i can give anyone who works out and havent done any research on exercise is to avoid injury. Proper technique and not overtraining are the most important aspects in avoiding injury. Just as an experiment I switched from landing heel first to balls of my feet... just to see if it would make a difference on my knees. It seems to help but is killer on my calves.

Are there any runners in here that run on the balls of your feet instead of the very common heel first. All the running shoes are designed for heel first style I think.
